jds has a video for us, one of the best jdsvids.blip.tv/#833575 that really captures all the love and light of that magical day, but I ask...who has more? :)
Its amazing what happens at woodley park, and I think this should grow and grow and grow. Young people need to see this and put down their gang banging hip hop and see what its like to be something beyond what consumerism tells us to be. We need more youth...besides the weird ones like me...there is no reason at all we should not share this...underground sure, but underground is an elitist, selfish kind of thing, don't you think? :)
The ranch was beautiful, but I notice with each party the park starts to look more and more like it, each time a piece is added. Its accessible, its not looking for a profit, and beyond all, its family love. I really feel something is in the air, I really feel the warmth, and its telling me to share it.
From the depths of my soul I thank the DJs and the loving hands that provide us with this experience, because without you there was no one else who would've done it. A little work brings love to hundreds of people.

Re: 8th greeniversary pictures? - and some thoughts on the park...
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 8:14 PMThough it was my first Green Sector event, I feel as you do about how the vibe I felt of that day. Great day for me and all that I met and saw.
I think I took seven pictures, all in the early going before there were very many people there. The music hadn't even started. I took a couple of Tutku. Her smile and the fun she is to be around are something to enjoy just in having. I took a couple of the DJ station and speakers and the shade canopy. And a couple of Manny as he was just starting to play. Then I put the camera away. John (jds) was showing me his fisheye camera lens. I didn't realize the camera he was attaching it to was a video camera! So little. It really did a good job taking pictures. It let him enjoy the day and not be burdened with a big camera. I'll post the few I took. With the dance floor empty it will give you some perspective of how many people were there later in the day when you see the video or if anyone posts some pictures of the late afternoon.
Bobby, I met someone at the Anniversary party that said his name was Erosis. I thought it was you and remarked about a posting I had read. He said it wasn't him! As I don't know what you look like, I was confused. I'm thinking that it wasn't you, so thems the breaks. The way he said his name it sounded like Erosis or something like that as I couldn't be too sure. He defintely said it wasn't Bobby and seemed kind of irrated with me when I called him that! Hey, I apologize if it was indeed you and I apologize to him if you know him and it wasn't you. I was kind of in a daze at that particular time and the music was loud so I couldn't quite understand what he was saying. If it was indeed you, I guess I really was dazed. :) Next time, eh? I'll get those picture files shrunk down in size and post them to the photo area in little while. -

Tue, April 22, 2008 - 10:02 PMHmm, maybe it was Eros. Perhaps he'll see the postings and throw a comment for us.
I posted the pictures. I should've gotten the camera back out and took a few more pictures in the late afternoon. After it cooled down a little it made the day even better.

Re: 8th greeniversary pictures? - and some thoughts on the park...
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 10:12 PMI wish I had pictures to post but I was too busy dancing, spinning, playing, to pull out my camera. I wanted to say though that I completely agree with you that the 8th anniversary party was beautiful. I try to invite at least one new person every time I go. I'm hoping to get my mom out one of these days. I'll keep asking around about pix. I know i saw someone taking one of me!?!

Re: 8th greeniversary pictures? - and some thoughts on the park...
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 2:37 PMHey Bobby yes.. Green Sector does an amazing job with any event they do regardless of where it is.. and Woodley park is a nice chill shaded place thats close, but i do miss driving on miles of dirt roads to get to the location and feeling like i was far away from the city.. thats one of my favorite parts of going to any outdoor gathering especially Green sector... the awesome drives through creeks n such... It seems to me like many of the people that go to Green Sector (like me and my friends) actually like the older ages of the crowd that go as well (many of them seem to even have kids and bring them).
Theres lots of outdoor parties that are open to everyone and have much much younger crowds... but the vibe is different than a Green Sector gathering... and they have many more problems. I know people that have been clubbed over the head with a maglite and jacked in the middle of a forest walking to their car (publicly flyered party with younger crowd)... I've been to parties where lots of cars get broken into(also publicly flyered party with a younger crowd).... parties where rival dealers end up fighting (same thing)... .. parties where rival crews end up calling the cops.. etc...
so I would say that in my experience keeping it underground is not elitist unless you never tell anyone else u meet about it and keeping it for yourself... word of mouth is a Safety measure in my opinion... Safety from negative outside influences of all kinds... I know party crews that tried to keep their gatherings public but couldnt because of all the problems that came along with doing that... Im not saying i like it... I've just seen it time and time again... and it becomes a toss up between how much of this scene your willing to share... and how much you are willing to protect it to save the integrity of the gathering... Im all about sharing... but if sharing too much is ruining the parties and beauty and could make them unsafe... is it worth it? I think Green Sector is sharing and growing constantly through word of mouth... which is the best way in my opinion for many reasons... Im just raising these points as things to think about... because calling underground crews like green sector and moontribe elitist and selfish cuz they are underground seems a bit selfish in itself and u seem to be missing the big picture.... cuz back in 98, 99 there was a giant surge in the scene, it did open alot of people lives to this beautiful scene... but it brought alot of problems because if u flood the scene with new people too fast they can distort what its about by validating eachother with their misperceptions of what the scene is about.. and back then law enforcement took extreme measure to find and break up any party they could find even driving 30 miles on dirt roads in the middle of nowhere at 5 in the morning to end it... it was a tough time for outdoor gatherings... the underground spawned from necessity not from elitism... I like woodley park but i wouldnt mind paying more to drive farther into the middle of nowhere again.. and if Green Sector became flooded with a whole new younger crowd all of a sudden i have to say i would probably be a little dissapointed..sorry...but I think they know what they are doing, and they do a damn good job.. I think they are sharing more than they need to with us already just by the act of the hard work that goes into the planning and creating Green Sector and building it to what it is to day with minimal problems without calling them elitist or selfish for creating a safe atmosphere and a respectable name..
and im not tryin to argue with you... just trying to offer some food for thought... and another side of the story you might not see and a defense to the groups you are calling selfish and elitist for pretecting the people who go to their gatherings and keeping the gatherings underground to protect the integrity of the spiritual whole of the gatherings... we should all be thankful for the underground... cuz there are plenty of gatherings every weekend that are open to everyone and anyone... but if you've ever been to those but they usually end up having asshole security (too keep it safe and make sure nobody destroys the property), huge amounts of debauchery, and i get slimed at leaste a few times by some sweaty guy with his shirt off that cant seem to not walk into me... not to mention theres nobody there my age but the dj's... So in my opinion... we should all savor the underground not complain about it... especially since its their name that they built.. i mean who are you or me to tell them what is selfish or elitist about what they are doing with an organization theyyy created... I hope the Underground lives strong so that i have a safe place to chill with only the like minded positive people... I love the integrity of the underground and word of mouth vibe so i gotta defend it....just some FOOD FOR THOUGHT
much respect

Re: 8th greeniversary pictures? - and some thoughts on the park...
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 5:23 PMHey Ryan,
Thank you for the kind words. To be supported and feel that people trust that we are all on the right path helps keep things moving in a positive direction. It also reaffirms our own feelings about how to go about preserving the light intentions of the gathering while at the same time providing an avenue for new people to learn about them. And I believe that new people discover them all the time, and in just the right numbers so that they can be integrated and grow along with us.
I think that Bobbi was speaking about the underground in general and not specifically about us. he is a friend and I know his intentions are pure and seeking only to bring light to as many people as possible. Retaining the integrity of a gathering while allowing room for growth is a delicate dance to be sure... -

Re: 8th greeniversary pictures? - and some thoughts on the park...
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 6:42 PMA delicate dance indeed.... and I agree, I think Bobbys intentions are completely pure and he definitely wants to enlighten as many people as he can. I have nothing but respect for Bobby... I have met Bobby and he has been very friendly and i love what he's about... i like his trance mix too.... I just thought in the context of thoughts on the park, and mentioning the ranch n such.. it seemed to me directed a lil bit in ur direction... and i still think his intentions are good... he just wants to spread the feelings he feels and experiences at your gatherings... thats a beautiful thing which im sure you want to do as well.... and i think he's an awesome guy... but like u said... its a delicate dance that many dont understand... and elitist and selfish are just something i rarely see at any type of outdoor underground gatherings directed at you or not... and it is a delicate matter that most dont really get.. and u can decide whether u want to go or not.. to call people names like selfish and elitist that have good intentions and to use greensector as a headline just seems harsh... especially to generalize...I was just trying to paint a little bit of the picture about the amount of decisions that are made every day in the best interest of these gatherings.. taking into account the history of things that have happened with countless other organizers.. and defending the underground scene which.. was.. called elitist and selfish without any explanation... I think everyones intentions are good here... i was just trying to spread some information about why the scene is the way it is... despite what people may call it
much respect
and peace

Re: 8th greeniversary pictures? - and some thoughts on the park...
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 10:24 PMHehe well Ryan I see you've gotten very rallied up to defend the underground you appreciate and love, but I'll have to say that I wasn't anywhere near talking about what you started debating, or saying things as black and white as "open the doors to all", I was putting a general phrase out there and a consideration on how I feel that we should share our happiness rather than hide it in the woods.
I believe Treavor understood me and where I was comming from, the comment was one of positivity , not one calling the party scene selfish for watching its back and being careful. Mentioning the ranch was also done in positive light as that is something that we as a community have lost, and yet that is something that I'm feeling and seeing more at the park each time we gather (talking about an energy reflected in the people) - which whether thats intentional or it's found itself into reality subliminally, I appreciate that and congratulate the efforts involved.
I can say alot more on those topics but they divert completely from what I was talking about, so -
I should ellaborate on perhaps the direction I'm comming from and what it is I think should be shared. What I'm saying is that woodley park is something different. Its just... heres where this feeling comes from...
a very powerful image occurs to me when its the afternoon, the sun is setting, and you see all the kids from the neighboring playground come over to marvel at this hippie disco party that seems to show up every month at their favorite place to play. Everywhere you look, you see open indulgence in what people believe to be fun and what people enjoy out of life - whether its us or the neighboring park-goers.... and not only is it seen but its shared. The kids see this (like 5 year olds, 9 year olds) - and have you ever seen them jump right into the dancefloor, jumping up and down awkwardly but with a wild smile on their face. They are pure souls before inhibitions and ego filters start to get people down. Its just that innocence that they bring into the dancefloor, and you realize its the same in everyone there. And then those business men with the business suits.... I don't think I will ever see people genuinely dressed in business suits genuinely dancing to psytrance for the first time again.
Its just a very ironic image. undeground party with an unusual subculture, and then soccer moms and their little kids. Like the underground's purpose is to take us away from society, but as I see woodly, its bringing what we've gone out and learned and loved...back into society.
Whether this is intentional or not, woodley park is saying a message, it's saying yes we can and why not, and proving it in the process.
I for one do not want to runaway 6 hours into the desert each time I want to socialize and have fun on a level that resonates with who I am... but that seems to be the reality based on who we've chosen to be.
Woodley park is showing who we chose to be, and showing it in a good light. -

Re: 8th greeniversary pictures? - and some thoughts on the park...
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 11:52 PMTrust me i understand where u are coming from... hence the positive things i said about you... im not rallied up as you say.. trying to put me in a negative light... im just against misinformation and using someone elses name... i wasnt debating, i was defending the scene against you generalizing them calling them and calling them elitist and selfish under the title of green sector 8 year anneversary... which you blatantly did do... that is in black and white.... especially in the context of thoughts on the park... the park is a good replacement spot til a new spot is found or til the ranch can be restored as a venue... but i think almost anyone will agree... it doesnt compare to a venue like the ranch but yes the vibe has been good there and its better than no gatherings.... but i dont really agree that growing at woodley park and sharing our culture with any random hip hop kid or gang bangers once a month is going to change them or the world... in fact that happened before at woodley with another organizer and it brought all kinds of problems later on even with the proper permits and put even getting permits at risk.... people can only change themselves... seeing us dancing and having fun and hugging eachother to some crazy music every couple weekends isnt going to change them... and the word of mouth expansion to me is what makes green sector and most of the underground the beautiful thing it is... cuz that makes sure that the people who come are people who were told what the gatherings are about and they come and bring that shared mentality to the gathering with them... and thats why they are there... to me thats what makes the event.. the collective conciousness of it... and thats how i throw my events... cuz in the end any kind of person even bad people or criminals may enjoy dancing for a day or night to anything if there are some girls around... thats not going to change their lifestyles.. only they can do that... sharing with them something they wont understand wont... and me driving to the middle of nowhere ensures that everyone who is there REALLY wants to be there... its not just something to go do when they are bored... cuz theres lots of places for that.. clubs almost every night here in LA if u look hard enough.... and for the record i find it hard to believe its positive to call anyone elitist or selfish even if its true or a different crew your talking about... not that its wrong to do so if its true... but its not positive in any sense... and it definitely warrants an explanation other than denial of even saying it... and your image of the kids on the playground and such is nice... but kids that young cant even fathom what is going on in this scene.. and on the wrong day with the wrong people walking through the park any body can become a victim... that park is usable for gatherings for a reason... its not known for being the safest park..... and again im not against sharing ... im about the expansion too which is why i throw my own gatherings... but first and foremost Im about the preservation of the integrity and safety of this ever growing scene... and i know woodley park seems like its gonna integrate it into a positive light in society and share it with the world... but in reality... it will likely bring problems in the end like it did before cuz as we know history does repeat itself... patterns are what the world is made up of... if you do your research u will understand what i am talking about... i've helped friends throw parties for many years and for the last couple years have been throwing my own... theres alot of logistics involved... and safety is always a tough subject to throw around.. buts thats important to me and the integrity of the event... and i think that your idea is noble... but the safety of it over a long period of time... is not very safe judging from past experience... even in woodley park where it looks like there are no problems to encounter... again... im just portraying the other side.. u said what u said under the title that you said it... i think anyone who reads this would take it the same way i did in the context you wrote it in... and Like i said... i think your a good guy bobby... i just dont think u understand the "delicate dance" (as wyse put it) that really makes the vibe you want to share so bad... and in my opinion the woodley park vibe hasnt even compared to the ranch events in that vibe other than having some younger goers which is something u say u think the gatherings need... but then isnt that selfish to say? in my opinion people were much friendlier on a whole, in my opinion, at the ranch when they actually had to make an effort to go... so anyways... just my opinion in my experiences... if you want to talk more PM me.. nothin but respect for you man.. i just think u should be careful generalizing large groups with harsh words without any explanation when you say it... especially using someone elses name to do it... anyways.. just my thoughts.. like i said... nothin but respect and a different opinion
peace
Ryan
